12''x9'' oil   friesian cows in field at Throop, Dorset                      © MARTIN DAVEY 2011 This is a painting of a friesian cow, based on a photograph, taken at Throop, Bournemouth. It is painted in oils on a canvas 12" x 9". The painting was done at the same time as these other cow paintings see here and here. It is, because of its small size, quite crudly painted but the colours are strong and the composition simple. It was fun creating the dark patches on the shiny coat of the cow.
