   BBC 'UPSTART CROW' gallery

Art created for the TV comedy series 'Upstart Crow', a BBC production shown during 2016 in connection with William Shakespeare's death, starring David Mitchell in the role of Shakespeare.

The series has an animated title sequence and a number of location inserts in each show, all of which have been directed and animated by Kate Sullivan. Inspiration was taken from woodcuts and other illustrations taken from the Tudor period and new art created, injecting a humorous bent for the comedy show.

My role was concerned with the illustrations needed to show the landscape and building of the London of the time, and design suitable premises for the characters dwellings. The art was drawn in Photoshop and supplied digitally to be then incorporated in to an after effects project on which Kate would bring her talent for animation and direction to the project. Further grading additions were made by the BBC during there production pipeline. These images show the original artwork as supplied.
